Echo: Works in Geometric Abstraction

Echo: works in Geometric Abstraction by Latin American Artist celebrates the creative force of Latin American Geometric Abstraction with an exhibition featuring paintings, sculptures and prints by six Venezuelan artists currently living in South Florida. Artworks like Morela Avilan’s Lunar and Solar large circular paintings are interpreted differently depending on the light reflected on them, revealing different layers of color underneath. Diana Font fluid aluminum sculptures serve as maquettes to envision their larger versions. Saul Galavis and Wilfredo Soto’s intrinsic artworks use the negative space created by their manipulations of their materials, providing different interpretations as the viewers move around them. Magdaly Montenegro and Marianela Perez’ colorful paintings use geometric shapes as a meditative exploration of angles in colors. The title “Echo” refers to visual reverberation that lingers in the brain after looking at many of the artworks in the exhibition, a key characteristic when viewing optical art.
